More warm days in Sanibel island

Today's charter was the kind of day that makes it a pleasure to guide Sanibel fishing . Warm southerly breeze, blue sky and a incoming tide. The spring brings lots of species in that were just off the beach last month. Mackerel  , lady fish, pompano and jacks are all in the passes. Sharks and even a few tarpon are in this week.
I have March 23rd and 25 open due to cancellations. Please call to book, or e mail and I will call back as soon as I get off the water . Captain Dave

Spring break fun!!

What a great time I have taking this group fishing. The young anglers are excited when the poles start bending and the fish are almost jumping in the boat'. Thanks to the dads than help bait hooks and land fish. Can't wait until next year!!

Pompano

Hard to locate, but great fighters and good tasting. This lucky couple caught a variety of other species while fishing near South seas resort. It was a welcome break from ice fishing in Minnesota !.

Trout fishing is cool!

Fishing in February can start out cool, but as the sun warm us up the fish will start biting. A nice bob Trout for Tom, caught near Pine Island.

Captiva Island Fishing

The summer patterns have lots of families getting out to enjoy fishing Sanibel waters. The crowds have thinned out as the tempertatures have increased. The trips have involved a lot of watching the radar for morning storms that threaten from the west, and early afternoon storms that come in from the east. Most days the rain seems to wash out for the morning trips and allow us to fish a full 1/2 day and i usually get the boat cleaned up before it rains again. The Snook, trout and a few Redfish have biting every trip. The Snook have been either completly cooperative or lock Jaw. The rain, water clarity and tides have to be right for the fish to turn on. When they do turn on, I can't keep up with baiting lines and landing fish. Since grouper are in season I have fished the slower tides and have managed to land a few keepers inshore. There are lots of just undersized fish to go through before you hook a big one. When you do you know that the only thing in between you and a Grouper dinner is a rock he is trying to get under.

I have lots of openings for August, lets go fishing beforte school starts up.

Sanibel Fishing Charter

Fishing Sanibel and Captiva islands has been exciting for most days. The Redfish have started to move out of my area, but the Snook have moved in the passes to replace them. The fishing has been like mid summer, with the bites in the morning and hot weather in the afternoon. Tarpon have been all around the beach and passes lately. Bites have been slow coming, 1 to 3 per trip. The new moon this week should get them in the pass and feeding. The Trout, Jacks and sharks are cooperating for family fun fishing.

February Has Been Great Fishing !

Feburary was a great month to be on the water and March looks to be as good or better. Lots of small trout, ladyfish and a few Redfish have been on the boat the last month. I have been fishing with a combination of artificials on jigs and shrimp under corks and cut bait. I have watched large sharks cruising the flats and channels, we caught a couple of big bull sharks during one of the warmer weeks. You can tell we are quickly moving into spring as there are quite a few gig turtles over the deeper grass flats. The white bait has moved in and out over the last few weeks. Soon the mackrel will move in to feed on the bait followed by more sharks and Tarpon. The Tarpon season will be starting early if the warm weather continues, My guess is early April for the Tarpon season, we will have to wait and see. Pick a date and call to book your next trip.
