Fall fishing in Sanibel Captiva

A week of catching fish and laughing in Sanibel Captiva. The redfish are all over the islands and flats this year. The Red tide last year cut the numbers of Snook and trout and groupers. The numbers of smaller to slot size redfish have jumped!. We will have to see what happens to the Sheepshead and snappers as the waters cool. We caught one large, over slot redfish last week and of course, it was his FIRST fish. You just can't make it up! He is 7 years old and was sitting on his dad's lap when the 40-inch redfish struck. after a long battle, we landed the bull. You never know when the next Big one will be on the line. Book today, openings in December .Captain Dave

Sanibel Summer fishing

Vacations are in full swing for families on Sanibel and Captiva Island. This year the water is very clear and free of and red tide. The lack of rain has helped so far to keep the water clean. Summer storms have to start in

the afternoon soon. The Water temperature is climbing to the high 80's.  My fishing trips are catching Snook, Snapper, Mackrel and sharks. The Snook Redfish and Trout are closed to take until 5/2020. This should give the populations a chance to recover. The bait has returned very strong, so the gamefish shoulkd be right behind them.

Call today to book your trip!

More Fishing Sanibel and Captiva Islands

We still have clear water and good fishing around Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Fishing from McCarthys Marina has us close to the bays and beaches.  Snook, Trout Redfish Sharks and now the Tarpon are all here.  I have been splitting my time fishing near Pine Island and the beaches. If you are planning a trip soon i have slots open in May and June.
Catch and Release is encouraged!  Snook, Redfish an effective May 11th, Sea Trout are closed for Taking until May 2020.  I support the closure to allow the stocks to recover. Species that are open to catch and keep are ok to take, keeping in mind reasonable limits. Have Fun and catch fish is the goal

Out Fishing Sanibel in the wind.

The weather keeps rolling cold fronts as mother nature stirs up the water around Sanibel Island. Its a normal part of the winter and part of the healing after last summers Red Tide. With water temperatures low, the fishing is with shrimp.  Evervone loves Shrimp!. So the catch of the week goes to Craig Kulp and Barb from Pennsylvania. Fishing 10 lb braid, 15lb leader for sheephead and Snapper, Craig hooks and lands this monster snook!. Congratulations.
