Sanibel Island Fishing Report, March 2009

The last day of February was a great day for Joe and his sons, Damon and Anthony. Trout. Ladyfish, bluefish and pompano kept us busy all day. The weather was typical winter fishing, 55 deg. In the morning, warming to the mid 70’s in the afternoon.

The water has been real clear lately making the fish spooky and leader shy, so we have been staking out a long cast from the fish and drifting in quietly. Top water action has been red hot with the trout. Redfish are still scattered but they are willing to take a shrimp with the tail pinched off.

Snook season is now open (March 1st), even though it’s a little cool now. Soon the water will be in the 70’s and they will put the feed bag on before the summer spawn. April is just around the corner and that means TARPON.

I still have some good days open, call and book now.

Bring your kids fishing!

Look forward to fishing with you.
